Lemon juice, baking soda, petroleum jelly etc. are the things we always heard about these to traditional skincare products, but wait are they safe? Are they being effective at keeping skin hydrated and smooth? Check out guys these are some avoidable things you should think twice before putting on your face. So never use these things to save your skin;
Body lotion is a no
A pinch of body lotion is fine, but routinely lathering your face with lotion designed for your body is a big fat nope. Doing this can often lead to blocked pores. Of course, no one wants to deals with blocked pores. For instance, if you are staying at a hotel and you have to use body lotion on your face, it’s probably fine. But it’s habitual use can lead to many problems. If you have been relying on body lotion for your whole body, you should look for moisturiser specially designed for your face. Moisturisers provide key nurturing ingredients to your skin, leaving you with a clean and hydrated surface.
Don’t put lemons on your face
Does citrus belong in skincare? Many of the people thinks so, but just remember the last time you peeled or cut a lemon without realizing you had a cut on your hand. Not exactly a rejuvenating experience, was it? Additionally, lemons contain the chemical psoralen, you can’t put lemons on your face without transferring psoralen. This powerful chemical makes your skin very sensitive to light. It causes blisters and body rash and also loosen actual tone of the skin.
Toothpaste is for teeth
It may sound a little silly, but when you have developed a zit, and you want it gone immediately, you are likely to try anything – even toothpaste. If it’s safe to use on your teeth then it must be safe for your face or skin, wouldn’t you think? Unfortunately, that’s not true. While people have been using and touting toothpaste as a zit –zapper, it’s simply a bad advice. It is not good for your skin. While it most likely helps to dry out pimples, toothpaste can irritate your skin and has potential to be overly drying.
Hot water
How hot do you take your showers? Chances are probably too hot. The best shower temperature for your skin is around lukewarm. Most experts agree that water below a temperature of 110 degrees is best. That means if your water feels hot, it is too hot. If your skin is red after your shower, that’s a good indicator too. It also harsh on your hair because it strips away your natural oils causing your hair to become dry. That dryness, can cause color to fade faster if you colored your hair. Many people like to use hot water on their faces because they think it will help kill bacteria, however hot water can actually strip the moisture out of your outermost layer of skin. This is truly a sad day for hot water lovers.
Using glue as a blackhead remover
Glue can be fun to put on your skin. It’s okay, you can admit it. However, just because glue is amusing to peel off, that doesn’t imply it’s something safe for you to use. A popular beauty hack i.e. blackhead remover made by mixing charcoal powder and Elmer’s glue face pack. It may work but experts advise you against trying it. Glue is not formulated for skin care. It can cause skin irritation and hypersensitivities, resulting in scarring and changes in pigmentation on your face.
Avoid soap
Just what should you be using to your face? As a kid, you may have used a handy dandy bar of soap. As an adult, however that’s not the best idea. Cleansing the skin is a fine balance between balancing the skin’s hygiene and leaving substances that are integral for the functioning of the skin. Bar soap just doesn’t seem to be able to strike that delicate balance. I never ever use a harsh, regular soap as a face or body cleanser. Regular soap actually strips your skin of the nutrients it needs. This is because the soap utilizes chemicals that are both tough on the skin and unnatural. This results in roughness, dryness and itchy skin.
Hydrogen peroxide hurts more than it helps
There is no denying the fascinating experience of pouring hydrogen peroxide on a cut. However, you really should use peroxide on cuts when you first injure yourself. After that, it will counteract the healing properties of your skin and it will take you much longer to heal. Many of the females put hydrogen peroxide on face as a cleanser, just don’t do it. Similar to lemons, peroxide has lightening effect on both skin and hair. Peroxide can irritate the skin, stinging and blurred vision. Obviously it’s an ingredient you should never put on your face. Never use these things to save your face.
So, never use these things and think twice before putting these things on your face. These things can harm your face and cause dry, itchy and irritable skin.
