Downward facing-dog is the best yoga pose after a long day at work. It is a holistic pose that stretches and strengthens many parts of the body. Simply make your body into an inverted “V” shape, and push your hands into the floor to stretch your legs and back. It helps you lengthen and strengthen muscles in the body. It reduces tension in the shoulders, relax your head and neck.
This pose provides a deep stretch to the hips, inner thighs, and lower back. Sit on the ground. Now position your legs so that the soles of your feet are touching each other. Your knees should be bent. Grasp your feet with your hands and sit up with your back as straight as possible. Grasp your feet with your hands and sit up with your back as straight as possible. Inhale and place a hand on each knee. Exhale and press on your thighs until your knees touch the floor. Inhale and allow the knees to come back up again. Exhale and repeat this process 15 to 20 times.
Sitting in a cross-legged pose, tilt your head to the right and left, holding for one deep breath on each side until you feel the tension and soreness dissipate. Then repeat by tilting your head forward and backward. For a deeper stretch, you can use your opposite hand to apply gentle pressure to the top of your head.
This is popularly known as the mountain pose. Stand straight on a mat. Now take a deep breath and put your arms up and over your head and stretch it as much as you can. Your palms should be facing each other. Try to keep your hands straight. Reach up toward the sky with your fingertips. This Yoga pose is a good massage to your hands, back and the whole body. This is also best pose for increasing height as well.
